NEI's Conveyor Chain Products
National Element, Inc. manufactures standard bushed roller chain including WSR 3013, WSR 4013, WSR 4019, and WSR 6018. This high quality chain is designed for medium to heavy-duty conveyor belt applications. It is ideal for bake oven, annealing, washing, quenching, finishing, handling, and sludge/chip removal installations.
Our standard roller chain includes straight sidebars and large diameter rollers (WSR 4019 chain is also available with extra-large diameter rollers.) The oversize rollers provide a rolling rather than sliding action to reduce drag load in conveyor applications.
Rugged Design
NATIONAL roller chains are hand made to the highest quality standards. Each component is inspected during the manufacturing process. NATIONAL makes a full range of conveyor belts to provide complete chain-on-edge driven conveyor belt manufacturing capabilities. The chain's pins, rollers, and bushings are heat treated for extra resistance to wear. Case hardness on rollers is typically twice the depth of industry practice. Pins and bushings are milled flat. Bushings are press fit to lock them against rotation for long service life. Sidebar holes normally have flats to accommodate standard pins. NATIONAL Chain may be supplied with all round hole sidebars when used in through rod applications.
High Strength
Key to the strength of our standard chain is its use of seamless steel bushings and high-quality domestic components. Seamless bushings provide better strength and roundness than conventional formed bushings. And there is no gap to fill up with dirt, sludge, etc.
Attachments
Chains are available with standard and special attachments. Per our customer's request, NATIONAL will design and manufacture special attachments for specific applications.

Cast Pintle Chains
NATIONAL can provide cast pintle chain in 304, 309, 316, and 330 stainless steel in many pitches, with or without special attachments. Principle applications are for high temperature continuous heat treating furnaces.
Requirements of medium or heavy loads or where temperatures are involved usually dictate the choice of pintle chain for use with metal mesh belt constructions. The pintle chains are available in standard or heavy-duty types. In the latter type, a special series of heavy-duty pintle chains was developed for NATIONAL in which the bearing area of the sidebars is equal to that of the chain barrel. This distributes wear, resulting in longer chain life and provides additional strength for maximum service. The use of a specially processed malleable iron will increase the strength of the chain, provide greater resistance to abrasion and permit its use at higher temperatures. For elevated temperatures, an alloy chain should be selected.
Pintle chains are affixed to the metal mesh in much the same manner as the roller chain. Standard assemblies include the use of rods, which may be journaled as necessary to act as pins of the chain. Other constructions provide for structural members such as bars, angles or channels passing through or attached to the metal mesh belt and riveted or bolted to chain accessories. Most of the constructional features may be furnished with Pintle Chain belting. Drawings of the standard and heavy duty Pintle Chain belting assemblies provide details for preliminary engineering assistance. Request our catalog on line.

Roller Chains
The versatility of metal mesh belting in many fields of application has been immensely broadened by the use of conveyor chains such as detachable, roller, pintle and combination chains. Of this group, roller chain has proven to be the most popular choice for use with the various metal mesh belt constructions.
Available in a variety of chains, such as standard and oversize roller, double or extended pitch, and bushed and cast roller and with numerous attachments, roller chains can be easily adapted to the metal mesh through the use of cross members. These are usually rods, pipe, tubing, bars, angles, channels, etc. which are passed through or attached to the metal mesh belt and affixed to the chain by means of chain accessories or by acting as pins of the chain.
Standard assemblies utilize uniform sized cross rods or these rods may be journaled as required to act as pins of the chain. Another cross member frequently used is an assembly in which the rods pass through pipe or tubing. This construction offers ease of assembly or disassembly, as well as additional lateral strength. Detailed drawings of these constructions are included to assist in preliminary layout and design.
The usual constructional features can be incorporated with Roller Chain belting. For a dimensional drawing showing how these features may be combined with Chain Driven belting, see our main catalog.
